Joey Wester

Ms. Wester's entertainment industry pursuit began in 1996 with JC Backings, a company specializing in television and film custom-made backdrops when she snuck onto Sony Pictures lot with her portfolio and found the building where they hide the artists. Her career expanded further with Modern Props, a well-known prop house in Los Angeles. Paintings inspired by Picasso, Matisse, O'Keefe and Pollock solidified Wester's reputation as an artist capable of emulating the masters while imparting her own unique signature of color mixing, technique and texture. Signing Picasso's name to a reproduction of Seated Woman and then seeing that work featured in Dreamworks The Island brought a lifetime of dedication to fruition for fine artist Joey Wester. Her efforts on Franz Kline's The Ballentine was also featured in The Island, and both pieces received very favorable mention in the Winter 2006 issue of Set D6cor.

Sixty nationally syndicated TV shows, including some of today's hottest such as 24, CSI Miami, CSI New York, Nip Tuck, House, The OC and more, some in worldwide reruns. Over nineteen feature films, over 60 commercials, mostly national. Just imagine the number of viewers who have seen and appreciated Joey Wester's art work over the past 12 years. All this familiarity is derived from being the backdrop for that many set designs. Such is the life of a Hollywood artist creating the background fine art pieces for the TV and movie industry. "The entire process is really wonderful," Wester explains, "From the initial phone call through the creative process of research and development to seeing the client's face light up upon deliver of the piece and finally seeing it on film is truly an amazing experience. I am privileged to make a living doing what I love and do best."

Whatever she signs her name to, Joey Wester continues to imbue her works with a certain and unique tempering. For Wester, it's all about finding the life and the light at every piece's center.
